Friday October 15, 2021 Meeting via ZOOM 7pm

DSO members have so many talents outside of growing dahlias. We will learn about one of Nancy Riopelle’s (our membership chair) other talents when she presents A Day in the Life of a Medina Raptor Center Volunteer. Nancy has been a volunteer at the Medina Raptor Center for the last three years.  MRC is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with all of the required State and Federal licenses. Its mission is to rescue injured, sick, and orphaned birds of prey, rehabilitate and release them back to their natural habitats. It operates exclusively on donations of time, funds, and supplies, along with a staff of faithful volunteers. Nancy will give us a glimpse of daily chores at the center and introduce us to some of their educational ambassadors whose injuries made them unable to be returned to the wild. She will also talk about the threats to the birds today and how we can help them in our daily lives. Nancy is a bird handler at the center where the birds are taken to educational programs to educate on threats to their species

Please join our ZOOM meeting Friday October 15 at 7:00 pm to enjoy Nancy’s power point presentation and to have your questions answered regarding digging and storing your tubers.

Jerry will also give a brief summary of our successful hosting of the ADS National Dahlia Show in Wooster last month.

Members will receive an email with login information shortly before the meeting.

“See” you on the 15th,
